What I think is that the green strips of paper we give in exchange for protection provided by police forces is well worth it. No matter what this does to this local municipality's budget, everyone hiring private security forces for themselves (and entire municipalities who can't afford that just going without protection of any kind) would cost A LOT MORE than a deductible and increased insurance rates from one incident for one municipality.
